Authentic. Small, with a few booths, tables and a sushi bar. Parking is on the street or in the lot. Great assortment of sushi. I always get the house special at a good price. Includes choice of sushi, choice of tempura, choice of salmon cheeks or tuna roll, rice and choice of soup. Their fish soup is my favorite. The broth is hot and tasty, and you get plenty of bony fish heads to suck on. Wash it all down with a large bottle of Asahi beer. Green iced tea is a specialty. Doesn't get much better.
My boyfriend and I came here for dinner last month. We shared combo sushi plate (8 pieces of Nigiri 6 pieces of tuna rolls), 2 hand rolls (blue crab scallop) seafood nabemono soup (Yosenabe). I really enjoyed the hand rolls since the seafood was fresh and the rice and seaweed complemented perfectly with the seafood for each roll. The sushi pieces were also delicious and fresh. The soup broth was also tasty. The staff nemebers were also really sweet and friendly. ??
This restaurant is always amazing. They have been around for a long time and serve dishes that remind my dining companion of her mother's cooking, which is high praise. The misoyaki butterfish is particularly delicious. The sushi is top-notch and the combination meals are also very well done. My friend especially enjoys their sukiyaki. It's a charming little neighborhood spot that takes pride in serving high-quality food.
I think the best sushi restaurant in the SGV area. I've been coming here for over 20 years and love it personally. The people who work here are friendly, professional and absolutely brilliant!! The food is also very fresh and delicious, really authentic. Taihei is the best and recommends this restaurant to anyone who wants to taste delicious Japanese food for their first time or others who love it. Thank you. Taihei!

First time trying Taihei Sushi in Monterey Park and it was absolutely delicious! I got the Matsu-Sushi box for $29. It came with 10 pieces of nigiri sushi and 6 pieces of the tuna roll!The box was absolutely delicious, and the rice was also seasoned perfectly. Great communication while doing a phone order and super friendly employees! I highly recommend Taihei Sushi!
Taihei is great: cheap. Clean. Traditional. Super friendly and personal chefs. Staff work hard. Tip: Get going so soon. They make tons. Longevity of property and location consistency at all levels. Quality food and drink. Appropriate prices. Not so great. This review can generate too much business and we need to find somewhere else to go. But the breaks.
The food here is excellent and the locals know it clearly. I rarely give 5 stars. This deserves 5 stars and the fog-brushed fish, will twist your eyes. The sushi is of great quality for this price. I definitely had better, but this is usually for a multicourse $100 omikase. Eat this tasty. The Teriyaki chicken and Katsu are average.
From the first moment you come to this restaurant team give you an excellent feeling. Very courteous waiters, it is a kind restaurant to to go out with buddies or with your date. Great cooking, creative chef de cuisine, comfortable pay and excellent service. Highly recommended.

The sashimi is extremely fresh. The dishes are flavorful. The green tea ice cream is excellent. Overall, it was a good experience. We plan on returning.
