My wife and I decided to head out to a local pub for dinner and drinks Saturday evening and chose the Barber Towne Pub as our destination, primarily based on their advertised "half priced chicken wings special". Arriving at about 6:45 p.m. - a first visit for us both - we were pleased to see the pub was busy with many patrons there to take advantage of the special. We were promptly greeted by our friendly server and ordered drinks which arrived within minutes. At about 7:00 p.m. we each placed an order for a pound of wings and an order of fries. And waited! And waited! And waited. And then waited some more! Our server continually visited our table apologizing profusely for the delay, advising they were experiencing some "kitchen issues" that were delaying not only our food, but also the food orders of most people around us. Food orders taken after ours were being delivered to the customers before ours and diners around us were complaining to the server about the same experience. While very patient, she continued to reference ongoing "kitchen issues" that were in the process of being "hopefully" resolved soon!! Finally at 8:20 p.m. our food order arrived. While hot and tasty, waiting for a simple order of chicken wings and fries for almost an hour and one half on a night where this particular fare is on special is totally unacceptable . . .especially when the establishment should know that food order volumes on an "advertised special" evening will likely be higher than normal. Others around us were experiencing the same delays and at one point servers were telling new patrons entering the pub they should should expect any food order to take at least an hour!! Obviously most left upon hearing this news! What was even more disappointing, was that when our bill arrived, no effort had been made by management to recognize the inconvenience we - and other patrons - had experienced (e.g discounts or even a complimentary drink!!). This gesture would have at least suggested some recognition that the pub clearly "hadn't gotten it right" during this particular visit for its patrons. Our experience at Barber Towne clearly indicates some major flaws in the organization and operation of the kitchen in this establishment and a complete insensitivity by management to the frustrations and disappointment experienced by patrons as a result of the kitchen chaos occurring at the pub this particular evening. My wife and I will obviously be in absolutely no hurry to return to this place any time soon (a sentiment shared, I'm sure, by most other patrons this evening) and we'll be sure to willingly share our experience with anyone who might ask about the merits of heading out to the Barber Towne for dinner on one of the "specials" nights!!!
