We had a great meal here sat in the beer garden at the front of the pub. We let the guy behind the bar know we were sat outside, menus brought out quickly, and order taken by very friendly young man. Both had the steak and ale pie, one with chips, one with mash. Plenty of fresh veg served in a separate bowl. Was the nicest steak pie we have ever had, and we have tried several in Yorkshire! Ordered a crumble and custard to share and that too was delicious. Another young member of staff kindly asked if my mum wanted a blanket as the breeze was making it feel a bit chilly. A first class example of what a village pub should be. Warm welcome from the landlord, a lot of laughs and great craic with the locals round the bar. Our waitress at table was very friendly, highly efficient and a real hoot. My pint of Wainrights gold was lovely, and my wife enjoyed a big glass of pinot, both prior to our meal. The food is pub grub, very well cooked and presented, and served in generous proportions. Steak and ale pie with fresh veg and new potatoes was excellent. So impressed after our first visit we returned the following evening and again were very happy with the whole experience. Well done boys and girls.
We rated the gardens a 1 out of 5, as that was the only part of the restaurant we experienced. We came across the restaurant on Trip Advisor and since it was nearby, we thought it would be a good choice. However, when we arrived at 2pm on Friday, September 8th, we were informed that the restaurant had already closed at 2 o’clock. This was surprising given that the listed hours for Fridays were supposed to be from 12:00 to 11pm. Unfortunately, all we were able to get was drinks.
The staff at this restaurant gave us a warm and friendly welcome. They were willing to accommodate us even though the kitchen was closing. They were happy to let us park our campervan in their carpark, unlike another pub in the village that had unwelcoming staff and lost our business. The atmosphere was friendly, the beers were great, the food was delicious, and overall it was a fantastic country pub experience. Thank you.

Great food and great effort put in by all staff. It’s tricky serving groups and when things went wrong, the staff were really helpful and did their best to make it up. Food was excellent, super tasty and great price. Strange interior decor, needs some love. Also very strange how they don’t allow dogs inside. It’s a great local pub near some fabulous walks which is perfect for dog walks.
A friendly atmosphere with a good selection of food and drink. They live up to their motto of ' not doing fast food, but good food as fast as they can ! Hd an excellent evening. Would definitely return.
Popped in after a recommendation. Locals and staff friendly and had a nice atmosphere. Meal was typical pub food which came out piping hot! Chips were delicious!
Excellent venue. Friendly service. Good food. We had the fish and chips with garden peas. Good price. Functioning and clean facilities. I recommend eating here.
