We went for my father’s 71st birthday while in whistler on vacation. We arrived for our reservation on time using the Fairmont hotel car, and when we arrived, we were told to sit by the back by a counter full of dirty glasses and giant gallons of cooking oil while they got our table ready. Servers continued to come add more dirty glasses with no one clearing any of them. It felt like they were very understaffed and the majority of the staff were new. What a wonderful and unique experience. The clubhouse is a picture perfect little chateau a short drive up the road from the lovely fairmont hotel. Jimmy our driver from the fairmont was super sweet to us and as we walked into the beautifully decorated chalet it was lightly snowing making it a perfect night for celebrating the holidays. We were greeted by many smiling friendly faces as we were guided to our table. So super cozy inside the dinning room and our waitress was fabulous! disappointed. I arrived on time and they could not find my reservation. after I had shown the host my confirmation and about 10 minutes, it seemed like someone had checked another table on my reservation. I sat and it took 15 minutes until someone approached me. my drink was good, the wobbly soup was good, but the steel sock was so sweet that I had to throw it off. after my leak was paid, my server took my leak ticket and said my coat would wait ahead. I used the toilet room and went forward and my jacket was not there. the server was busy in the dining room and after 10 minutes she went to the bar without word from me. the dinner lasted over 2.5 hours because they ran extremely behind. I had to ask 3x to get a piece of bread for my baby. we have booked the dinner at 6:30 because we eat in the rule in an hour, then it is bedtime for the baby. But we did not leave the restaurant until 9. drinking came wrong. Sweat soup was extremely oily and barely swirl or cheese. käsefondue was great. meat fondue was terrible my man ordering a side of seafood to eat as I did not, then they gave us only a pan to cook all dif meat, of course the red meat tasted like fish with both. absurd! chocolatefondue was decent. we decided to repeat after a great fondue experience and try the a la carte options. we should have stayed at fondue, eating and presentation was in average a best, salty late and red cabbage. but what really made this difference was the service. understated, yes they tried, but so slowly it got frustrating. Remember that fairmont chalet. they pay and expect quality and service. no one has been delivered.
