The food was acceptable but not remarkable. We had an oyster appetizer, crab cake entrée, and cheesecake dessert, all of which were decent but not outstanding. Everything was going smoothly until the end of the meal. Our waiter asked if we wanted to review our charges, which struck us as odd since we expected just the check. Instead, he brought over an iPad to show us the charges.
In addition to the fixed price meal ($80 per person), we had ordered two cocktails ($28 total) and a bottle of wine ($52). To our surprise, there was a separate $16 alcohol service fee added. If you want a superb evening of fantastic food, service and ambience, I would strongly suggest you have dinner at Hope and Glory Inn. Dining there is of the nth degree of wonderful. The chef, Meseret Crockett's, attention to detail and skill of preparation leaves one more than completely satisfied. The emphasis the night we visited was on seafood, crabmeat to be specific. It was absolutely the freshest it could be and the largest most succulent lumps. Chef Meseret gave us excellent guidance in ordering our entrées and wine. And don't get me started on the desserts! Everything about the evening was delicious and wonderful. We cannot wait to return but I know we have to make plans accordingly....
My wife and I initially faced difficulties getting return phone calls to secure a dinner reservation for Valentine's Day, but persistence paid off in the end. We had an excellent meal. I had a conversation with Chef Meseret, who explained that the challenges were due to Covid, and her reasoning seemed quite valid. The most important aspects were the quality of the food, the service, and the upscale atmosphere, all of which were exceptional. If you enjoy speaking French, you'll have a delightful time chatting with the Chef about her career, travels, and her culinary creations. It was truly a wonderful experience. Of particular note was the silky, vanilla panna cotta served with a berry coulis for dessert. It was absolutely out of this world! I've never been a huge fan of panna cotta, but Chef Meseret completely changed my perspective. In addition to her remarkable culinary skills, she is a fantastic hostess and a worldly individual. It was a pleasure when she kindly came to check on us and inquire about our meal.

I’ve had the opportunity to dine at several Michelin 2 and 3-star restaurants, as well as many other highly acclaimed establishments in major cities along both coasts. Each place has its unique menu and ambiance, yet all deliver exceptional experiences. Chef Meseret Crockett and the Colonnade offered a dining experience that rivals any of those top restaurants! The meal was crafted with passion and was a true culinary delight. The atmosphere is bright, comfortable, and reflective of the period, and the service was outstanding.
Absolutely delightful place! Dudley and Peggy are the most wonderful hosts; they make you feel right at home. Every aspect of their inn is charming and inviting. The chef, Meseret, is truly exceptional as well. I highly recommend dining at the inn—it’s a wonderfully relaxing getaway. The town itself is intriguing, and you'll encounter some fascinating people. It’s a truly enjoyable experience and a must-visit!
My husband and I had the best dinner at The Colonnade! It was four course dining experience and each course was just incredible. It's clear the Chef is so passionate about her work and we appreciated that she came out to chat with dining guests. The suggested wine pairings were really great as well.
