"Last minute decision what a hidden gems. Amazing service, second only to the food. Artichokes dip was outstanding and the pita chips should be illegal. You gotta try this place. Server Adam will take great care of you."

We passed the Froggy Dog on Hatteras Island so often during our weekly stay. We decided to eat last night and we were so glad we did. The restaurant is huge and because of the very unseasonally warm weather after Christmas, all seats were taken outdoors. We were glad that the restaurant had so many food cartridges. The interior of the restaurant is absolutely spacious and well furnished. We were welcomed and quickly set. Our server Konstance was so charming. She brought our drinks, told us the specials and gave her recommendations. I always appreciate servers that give recommendations because they tried the food and know what is good. Our appetizer of Cannonball Shrimp was a lot of fried shrimp that were invaded in a Sriracha Mayo sauce. It was crispy, sharp and tasty. The man got the crabcake dinner to cite him “is so krabby”. I chose the Atlantic Grilled Salmon on a bed spinach and wild mushrooms. To say it was delicious is an understatement. The two salmon pieces were juicy, tasteful and perfectly grilled. Our week of relaxation ended with a large seafood meal at the Froggy Dog, because everything from the atmosphere to the service to the food was perfect.

From the outside this place looks like a pretty typical beach bar and restaurant. It is easily visible from the highway and it has many gravel parking spaces. However, as soon as you come in, it is an impressively large and well thought-out space. It has various types of seating for all circumstances, including a beautiful outdoor seating area. Our server was cheerful, proactive and welcoming. I had lunch there, so I ate from the lunch menu. The appetizer I chose was loaded potato peels, and they were absolutely delicious with a generous portion size. That was the highlight for me. I followed them with what they call an Albatross burger, which was a lukeciously enormous beef chemoth consisting of two half-pound beef patties in a three-stock bag filled with tons of bacon and cheese, and with a fried egg and two delicious onion rings. It came with these crispy pommes that are now popular. Honestly, it was enormous and tasty, although I would argue, the burgers were a teeny little dry and in the need of more season. If you are in the Avon area of the external banks, this place is definitely worth stopping.

The Pesky thing called work delayed our departure and cooking if we had come to the camp really late, so we moved to a local restaurant that was still open. The Froggy Dog was the best of today. Great drinks, even better food and even better service from Adam. So glad we stumbled on this gem. Would definitely return.

While we stopped on holiday because of the name. But it was really good. They had cocks for children and they found this fun. We had a variety of foods with our groups. The staff was great. Gavin was super nice and accommodating. Good food good moods and good time. The only criticism
