Today I came in for a roast with a friend after hearing all about how good a roast is at the Hollies. We walked in a went to the bar to notify we had a table booked at 1pm, we were then sat at our table (without a menu) As a new person to the Hollies I was unsure of how we went about ordering our food and drinks. After 15 minutes of waiting I decided to go up to the bar and ask how we went about ordering food and drinks, The member of staff said “Well do you know what you want” I said no sorry as we haven’t yet had a menu. This is a wonderful spot for a meal and drinks. The prices are very reasonable, and the food has consistently been excellent during our visits over the past year. We had a group reservation for 20 people, a mix of adults and children, and everything was served correctly—something we've encountered issues with at other places. The service was also commendable, with no complaints. We attended their steak night, unsure of the quality given the price, but it far surpassed our expectations. One downside is the parking; it can fill up quickly, so if you're nearby, it's wise to allow some extra time for walking there during busy periods. Additionally, the TV didn't function at all; neither the remote nor the buttons worked, and it was stuck on the DVD player, which also didn’t work. Upon our arrival, the room was quite chilly, and although we turned on the radiator, it malfunctioned and wouldn’t shut off, leaving it on all night. To top it all off, the main light in the room stopped working by morning. While the room was relatively inexpensive, we soon understood why — but by then, it was too late to make a change.
I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant! The food is excellent and truly worth the money, and I never left feeling hungry. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. The only issue was that the fan in the bathroom wasn't working properly to vent the steam. Other than that, I can't think of anything else to complain about. I would definitely visit again! The Rooms at the Hollies Inn are really nice and have the ambience of a nice country cottage... very homely. The owner went to great lengths to try and get my Tesla charged and although the charging was aborted after about 4.8 kWh, for reasons unknown; he is really a top bloke. . I would highly recommend this pub for drinks , food and an overnight stay. Rooms: 5
