Wow, this place is incredible! We were visiting Devon as a group of 6 friends (3 couples) from Brighton. After wandering along the pier we decided to head into town to find somewhere for a pint...we had 3 dogs with us so this makes things slightly more challenging. We'd done no research so were wandering aimlessly when we spotted The Lions Monocle and a lovely sign outside stating they were very dog friendly! It has a very quirky look from the outside but we're used to this from living in Brighton and thought it looked really intriguing. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and seated and given a huge cocktail menu. The menu itself was fantastic and has us all pouring over it for a long time. You could easily sit here all day drinking cocktails...if you can afford it! I'm certain the lady who served us was the owner and you could tell she was really passionate about what she's created. I loved it! The cocktails we tried were incredible, probably the best and most interesting I've had. The bar itself is full of nooks and crannies and is really characterful. We visited during the day so it was very quiet, but this didn't matter to us as we created our own atmosphere as a group. It's not cheap, but you get what you pay for. I'd happily visit again and again to try as many of the cocktails as I could. Fantastic service, fantastic venue and amazing drinks.
