I'm a long-time fan of the malaya. I have been regularly since the beginning of the time when the restaurant was a great favorite in its north sydney location. I'm just back after the covid broke through a few years. in the run of the years the restaurant has gradually eliminated the popular menu points. the total menu is much less populated than years ago. there are now very few meat dishes and no lamb options at all. what is still quite good, but still expensive. but if they are willing to go to the malaya, money is not a problem for them. All good as usual to say about the food however the service was below average chasing waiters for drinks throughout the night, empty plates left on the table for long periods of time, chasing the bill and very inexperienced young staff who really did not...know how to handle the situation (even apologise sympathetically) after my friend at the table had half a beer accidently spilt on him by a waiter and we saw something similar on another table. Would have thought that manaement could have spread the tables throughout the restaurant to create more relaxed pleasurable atmosphere rather than pushing the patrons into one half of the restaurant that was full and turning over table regularly. we loved the malaya, but were not restricted for a few years, especially with covid. with the reopening we were looking forward to a great meal. Unfortunately it wasn't. not only has the malaya reduced the menu to a third... from what it was, there was no bark dishes, especially only meeresfruit (prawns) huhn. but at worst, they no longer offer their amazing Satay skewers. the food felt rushed because the service was likely too efficient; it was something like being on a production line. the meal for four people was expensive, but I went a bit hungry because many of the dishes had chili were hotter than usual and to round it off, cost one of the cheaper red wines (pronounced according to all...

I had a best restaurants gift card which I wanted to use for Takeaway I wanted the food in the signature banquet. Nothing was too much trouble for Marco. He discussed it with me processed my gift card had the food read before...the expected time of When my husband arrived. It was for my friend's bday we loved every succulent morsel. My dad loved the prawn laksa chicken rendang.We devoured the banquet with alacrity. My personal favourite was Kapitan chicken closely followed by san Choy bow rendang. My friend was so happy as this was his first social occasion since Covid. Thank u Malaya effusive thanks to Marco for making a magical afternoon reality. I will do another takeaway for my birthday... that's an old favorite. now a family-run restaurant of generation. we haven't been for a few years and can see changes in the menu. we ordered the roti canai and the sauce (which we love), the pumpkin rolls (which were delicious) and the original Malaya-curry (which was delicious but very hot). we love the roti here. incredibly busy. my helpful note: book them to avoid that they miss. total bill for the mentioned x meal, x glasses wein, x beer and an extra roti was so, not cheap but delicious.

I love The Malaya, the food is full of flavor and a delight to eat. The service is fantastic as the staff go above and beyond in making you feel welcome. But I would have been on a total food high if the Chilli Chicken...Wings where still on the menu, they are sadly missed as they where a big part of The Malaya experience.

Such a great variety of food on offer and the taste of every dish we have tried has not disappointed. One of our favourite restaurants. Sometimes the service can be a little hit and miss but a minor irritation when the quality of the dishes...are superb.

Absolutely love this place. Have been coming here for years and food and service is always amazing and consistent. Food is so delicious and generous servings. The banquet is a must. Kids also love it Will always be a favourite. Réservez une table maintenant

the first time I ate in the restaurant was in george street. today they were on a limited menu. my chicken amba was neither good nor the cattle randang. the laksa was in order. sad.
