A cold winter's afternoon and the need for a pie, slice and coffee and I found myself at Melbourne Bakehouse. The lady who served me was lovely and she also brought my food to the table. Upon realising I would struggle to cut things with one hand, she helped cut it and I was thankful. Food is always good and even though it is busy, you can sit and read the paper and not notice the amount of people entering and exiting.
Showed the waiter the eyelash in the cooked quiche, no apology or anything- just 'oh that's no good.pastie was very dry, had powdered cheese on the outside and tasteless. crockery was dirty and all very badly black marked- which doesn't inspire you to enjoy the food. Have been here several times before, each time leaving with a lesser impression of the place. won't be going back!
Old and new Port locals frequent this cafe. Shore visits from cruise ships and local celebs hanging around also add to the ambience. Try the wagon wheels or the baklava. Everything is baked on the premises. I had a cake made for a birthday celebration as well. Friendly staff and management. Above all, good coffee.
I have two coffee shops I like too frequent. I love the slices at this place. Apple and cherry is my favourite but I will have apple crumble if I need too. The coffee is always great here.
