The Settlers Arms Inn was built in the early 1800s, from convict-hewn sandstone. It was a resting point for Cobb Co coaches in the 1800s, travelling from Sydney to Newcastle. Governor Arthur Phillip came across the Macdonald River in 1789 while exploring the Hawkesbury River. The area soon after was settled, mainly be convict escapees. The first official land grants were not until 1794, to James Ruse and Charles Williams. There’s some interesting details about the history of the area on the St Albans website. It’s funny to think that this was once the main thoroughfare north from Sydney, but is now a quiet little backwater. That’s our gain, to enjoy a sojourn throug

This restaurant is the only option in the vicinity, but it was a pleasant experience. They serve typical pub food, but it is prepared well. The atmosphere is nice, with a historic and peaceful setting, and the staff and patrons are friendly. The added bonus of live country music added to the enjoyment of my visit. I ordered a steak and it was cooked perfectly to my liking.

We decided to visit this restaurant because of its charming old-world ambiance. Unfortunately, we were left feeling unappreciated by the staff. The older man at the bar barely acknowledged us when we greeted him. The steak sandwich we ordered was served on partially toasted bread and lacked flavor. The plow dish was decent, but overall, our experience was underwhelming.

The restaurant is in a nice location, serving standard pub food with a few standout options. I enjoyed the tasty dessert. Stick with the classic dishes and you'll have a satisfying meal. Not bad for the only dining option in a remote area. Just a heads up, there are chickens roaming around outside the pub, so it's best to sit indoors if you're not a fan of animals. wow, **** service, about expensive and **** food. yukie $26 fish and cheap looks like a dog breakfast. $28 meatcake looks and tastes like cow dung. drive them out and get them makkass meal instead of for $12.

...it was a wonderful way to spend my “doing as little possible” day, and I think I might venture out here from the ‘burbs on a winters Saturday as I believe they have real log fires.
