I have been visiting the pub for more than 50 years, under it's ever-changing rota of owners and managers. Yesterday my friend and I had a pleasant meal, served by an overworked but polite and helpful young man. Despite the dismal weather, the dining area was full by 1.30, which must be a recommendation in itself.

Awful service and food was average but waited 10 minutes for cutlery and gravy after asking 3 times. Also received the wrong started despite clarifying when ordering.

we arrived early and the pub was happy to welcome us to a table. good food and beer.

it was as expected, and we would go back. perfect for a family pub roast .
