All the staff at The Thirsty Koala are extremely helpful and super friendly. Our server Nick is a total Rockstar and so attentive/responsive. Dinner was ordered and delivered in less than 20 mins and the drinks we ordered while we waited were amazing. Additionally, the restaurant patrons were all super welcoming locals that made sure to let us know how much they appreciated us coming to Astoria (from Hoboken, NJ) to dine. Was so excited to try out this place as the food looks delicious. Came by last Saturday night 1/14 and the food was in fact really good but was very disappointed by the service. We walk in, it’s very busy, took 20m to get water to the table but since they looked busy it’s understandable. Our server initially seemed annoyed that we waived him down to get our order in, because by this time, we’ve been sitting for 30m. Food was great! The lamb lollies were really nicely done, cooked to perfection and nicely plated. The Bonzer Burger was also great. My friend got the Australian sea bass and that was also great! We went on a Tuesday and it was happy hour all night, to our surprise, so we definitely took advantage. The house cocktails were unique and delicious!
Amazing food! We went there for brunch. My husband got crispy fried calamari and I got Pain perdu (French toast). I was beyond happy that the food was gluten free and so delicious. One of the best French toast I have had. Will definitely be back. Can’t wait to try their lunch and dinner menu (so many amazing gluten free options).

The “Kangaroo burger ” is a disgrace of a burger. I didnt even want to order it. I seen someone get it and I felt disgusted the luscious look of it makes it be my 13th reason why. My friend Kangaroo told me about this so I decided to hop on the trend and let me tell you I HATE IT ALL MAKE A BURGER THATS BEEF NOT ROOF
I’ve been going here on and off for years and it was always good quality, the last few times there’s been items missing from my order which was the same again today and the burger tastes like a frozen patty kicked down the street from the cheapest supermarket available
Love the huge selection of GF dishes. Every time I come to NYC I try to visit this place. I’ve gotten different dishes each time I’ve gone and each one has been amazing. Highly recommend checking this place out!
The staff and the owner couldn’t be more kind and down to earth. If you want authentic Australian cuisine I highly recommend you check them out and ask for Nick as your bartender
