Very disappointed to have to compose this review feeling like we have given The Wayfarer chance after chance but now enough is enough and I hope this review helps them to reevaluate their staffing and operating procedures. I would describe my friends and I as...regulars of this establishment and this is the last disappointing experience that we will be encountering. Our experiences are a catalogue of poor management, inadequate management training and generally poor customer service and a complete lack of gratitude for patrons that are supporting their business especially following such turbulent times as we have all experienced recently. To list a few examples: We were left sitting at the bar on one visit for a good half an hour having asked the manager for our bill to settle up and leave. It got to the point where another customer actually pointed out to the staff member that we were waiting to pay. Another evening we were sat at the bar. I went to the toilet and returned to find that one of the waitresses had clocked off and sat in my seat. Even though I had left my drink there and my friend was still sitting there. I reached over her to retrieve my drink and no apology was provided nor did she move. Also, the manager was also sitting with her. I would have thought that a better example could be set to your staff. Having had a busy day we arrived at and upon enquiring as to whether food was being served were told that the chef had gone home. To rub salt in the wounds we were then informed that food should have been served till but they had closed the kitchen early. Further salt was rubbed upon hearing the service bell and food then coming out to other patrons. Before the manager proceeded to clean down the bar and also before asked if we had any last orders! A great way to make your patrons feel welcome. The blunt conclusion is that we definitely won’t be returning and to be frank I would rather spend my money with a business that appreciates the custom and customer. I feel that my complaints are fundamental basics to the running of a successful and welcoming establishment. It’s disappointing to say the least that the standards offered here are deemed to be acceptable by the management and owners.

We went on Friday night to see Father Christmas. We knew it wasnt just a run in a grab a present type thing we wanted this to be an experience and we most definitely got it. The children were asked to complete a form...about whether they'd be good, what they were thankful for and what they would like for Christmas. On completion they were guided around and told the nativity story. They met the wise men, saw an Inn keepers door and were led to a stable where the baby was lying. They were given gold chocolate coins (which they were delighted with and finally led into a huge tent to sit and wait for their turn to see Santa. The tent gave me all the feels of Christmas. Music was playing, drinks were being served and the setting was beautiful (it is cold but its a tent, outdoors in December don't think you can sit around in your best glitzy party dress Then the kids got to see santa. They went in together and all the magic was there. I was convinced he was the real deal and the setting was just as you'd imagine this isn't some dodgy cardboard setting in a shopping centre!!! Santa was brilliant, he chatted to the kids for several minutes, made jokes that had my husband and I laughing and didn't drop any hint that he didn't know what he was talking about. The presents weren't massive but the kids loved them (light up lego pieces for my year old obsessed son and a light up snowman for my year old daughter). They're token gifts but the experience for us was worth every penny. We went for a family meal inside the Wayfarer afterwards which was faultless, comforting and the perfect way to wrap up a magical experience. I'd recommend anyone to go and would love to go back when the markets and ice rink are on.

Been coming here for years and always thoroughly enjoyed both drink and food. Since recent lockdown menu has remained standard, boring and uninventive. Can’t believe a classic dish of fish and chips could not be accompanied with tartare sauce! The reason given was the chef...didn’t have enough time to make it! Unbelievable! If you come to my house, I have tartare sauce, horseradish, ketchup, English French mustard, balsamic vinegar and even more staple kitchen cupboard ingredients. Food was average in taste, cost above average compared with other local establishments in the area. Would I return? No. Would I recommend? No. Would I try The Stocks in Parbold? Yes Would I try Windmill in Parbold? Yes. In a nutshell, Wayfarer, is overpriced and uninventive. On top of above comments, we had to wait an eternity for someone to produce our bill. Overall experience after a year of lockdown uncertainty was very very poor.

If I could give it minus I would Told to arrive prompt at allocated time Which we arrived mins early kept waiting in a tent minutes after start time the kids were told a story of birth of Jesus and the three...scientists, not allowed to say wise men shown a door (supposed be the inn) And a barn but's it a shed. Then children were guided to seating area to wait for Santa's wife to call their name after mins they were called Came out with gifts? Which were a book for the year old Now on sale at your local poundworld The year old fared worse he got one inch candy stick and pieces of Lego Which light up ,but they do not, how can Anyone give a child two tiny pieces of Lego is beyond me Also they advertise a staking rink it was not built The cost of this super day is per child Without doubt will not visit this place again
