Do not order from Tropicana—go to McDonald's instead, at least you know what to expect from their food! The Coco Bread tastes like it's been frozen forever, with a strange icy texture. The plantains are so greasy, they reminded me of a burger. The ginger beer pineapple comes bottled, not fresh as the menu claims. The stewed chicken was burnt and served without any sauce. The cabbage looked nice but was completely flavorless. The rice and peas are what they fill your plate with, but there's no seasoning at all. Who even prepared this?

WARNING: Avoid the roti at Tropicana. This is not authentic Trinidadian roti by any means. Who would think to put cabbage in a shrimp roti? 1. The curry lacked flavor and was hardly present in the roti. 2. I only received three shrimp and one potato piece, but a shrimp roti should be generously filled with shrimp, curry, and potatoes. 3. The cabbage was completely unseasoned. As you can see in the photo, I couldn’t even finish it. When I called to complain, they simply said, "we spice our food."
When I lived in Temple Hills, this was also my way for any Jamaican food, and even if I moved away and tried different restaurants at a distance, they do not touch this place. I have had the oxtail before which is unsurpassed because they give a lot of meat and the severity is the right consistency. I recently had the Jrk chicken and oh baby that the thing at a different level of sharp, the Scotch Bonnet pepper pieces were all up in the chicken sword and on the chicken.
I was SUPER excited to review this place....but my food was lack luster. Before COVID the food was flavorful and delicious. I literally could dip my coco bread in the savory juices of my curry shrimp!!! But today I?ve been severely disappointed ???? the shrimp are soft and mushy (some were tough/over cooked as if it was not cooked fresh), cabbage is not seasoned the rice and peas were not seasoned either but probably the best thing on the plate....COVID has taken its Réservez une table maintenant
A hiding culinary experience, Finding this place was a mere coincidence, we were on our way back to Dahlgren VA from our visit to Washington DC, and decided to have a quick bit any were, we saw a place for po?boy?s and decided to try it, as soon as we got in we change our minds, I noticed before going in a Jamaican food place next to it so I suggested we try it, to our surprise there was a long line of people just to order so that has to be a good sign, I asked for a
This is my favorite place in the suitland area hands down but I was recently amazed at what I was sent. I spent like 20 something dollars on a salad which I always order at least one of(they’re usually amazing)... I literally got a bunch of onions, tomatoes, carrots and two scoops of shredded chicken..in a styrofoam box.. Everything about it was just wrong. I’m gonna call and see what happened but I don’t like the fact that I don’t know what I’m getting anymore.
I haven’t been here in 4 or 5 yrs. I picked up a large jerk chicken rice and peas/cabbage. Coco bread and spicy beef patties. The food good. The rice and cabbage seemed a bit watery. The spicy beef patties were hot and delicious. Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3
They are absolutely the best! If you want authentic, flavorful Jamaican cuisine, this is the place to go. I ordered catering for my sister’s graduation, and they exceeded all expectations. The escovitch fish and jerk chicken were outstanding. Highly recommend! Réservez une table maintenant

"The venue was very spacious, art everywhere, and had a little book section. We came for brunch and had a relaxing time. The menu has a lot of unique options, but they only had mimosas and **** Mary?s for brunch drink options."
