Refurb looks great and love the alfresco dining element but this is our third time visiting since the refurbishment and we definitely will not be returning. The first time we booked online, arrived and were told we had not booked so I showed them the confirmation email and we were taken to a table, not given menus, no one took a drinks order. We caught someone’s attention and asked to order drinks, they said they’d send someone and still within 40 mins of being seated we didn’t have a drink, let alone a meal, so we left. Second time was better albeit still shockingly mismanaged resulting in appalling service. Constantly having to ask for drinks, cutlery, the bill more than once, to pay… it w...
I choose Whinstone view due to them having a separate room for private dining functions. With having a large family it is nice to have that space and not to be all sat on one long table as you never get to chat to everyone. The service from all staff was great, everyone we came into contact with were very helpful and friendly. Everyone really enjoyed their food and commented on what a lovely night they had. Only one slight negative that the room could do with a refurb like downstairs has. Downstairs looks really nice and we will be back to try the pizza oven out.
We have just returned from a fantastic short break to this wonderful place. The scenery is stunning and if you are energetic enough to walk up Roseberry Topping the view is amazing. It’s 20 minutes to the coast with some great seaside towns to visit Runswick Bay was our favourite). The bistro itself was lovely serving great cocktails and food especially the pizzas) with helpful and friendly staff in a great setting. Our log cabin was all we could have asked for and we had a fantastic time
We went a few months ago straight after the refurb and the service was appalling and food really bland. There were 6 of us., we each had different dishes and were underwhelmed. We put it down to them ironing out the kinks. Yesterday we went and the pizzas were absolutely fantastic but everyone else’s food again was completely tasteless and disappointing. The service was better though! The setting is beautiful but we don’t know what’s happened to the quality of the food.

Today, I dined at this restaurant with a group of eight people. One of our friends, who is disabled, fell ill in the car park upon arrival. The staff went above and beyond to help her, providing a chair, water, and waiting until she felt better. Despite the cold weather, they were kind, understanding, and incredibly helpful. Our meals were also delicious, with each of us selecting a different dish. A big thank you to the staff for their exceptional service.
My experience at Whinstone View trying their pizzas was excellent! They were the best pizzas I've had outside of Italy. We ordered a chicken pesto, a veggie pizza, and a pepperoni pizza. The service was outstanding, with Kate even going out of her way to print a word search for my nephew. The bar staff were attentive as well. The cocktails looked amazing, but I had to drive so maybe next time I'll try them.
Visited WV, for breakfast. Staff greeted us upon arrival, very friendly/helpful. Great choices on menu, we went for the ‘Yorkshire Breakfast £12)’. Everything you need, with added hot drink Tea/Coffee). Sat indoors for breakfast, following this had a latte sat outside. Beautiful setting, sheltered, overlooking gardens. We will definitely return
We had a wonderful family dinner and drinks at Whinstone View tonight. I want to give a special shoutout to Kate, Ryan, and Alyssa for taking such good care of us. Our meals were absolutely delicious. The parmos were massive and the mushroom risotto was the best I have ever had. Thank you! I highly recommend this place.
