I've been to White horse tavern 5 or 6 times. I always order the clam chowder. Reminds me of how my mother would cook the clam chowder growing up. Tastes like NewEngland ! This place makes you feel like you are stepping back in time. The fireplace is Cozie in the Winter. I also always enjoy the chopped salad. I've added chicken but it doesn't need any extras. The carmilized pickeled onions are the perfect touch. I was there with my sweetheart. We shared the Lobster Mack&Cheese. The have the parmigiana toasted with a mild creamy cheddar sauce with lots of tender lobster. Perfect for a chilly rainy evening. We came in for Restaurant Week and had a delightful dinner! Ordered one field greens salad and one French onion soup, followed by two Beef Wellingtons (cooked perfectly rare to our liking), and two seasonal bread puddings (cinnamon apple with vanilla gelato). Also added a dozen oysters and split a Scottish Duck Egg. Our server was a delight, overall a terrific experience.

This is a historic tavern. Good quality, warm, nice. The drinks are good. The bartender was knowledgable and the drinks were good. Highly recommend it for drinks in Newport.

Oldest tavern in America still serves great food. The menu is small, but good. The wine list is extensive and the service is excellent.
