For me, Winn Dixie in Tavares, Florida has the worst customer service of any grocery store I have been in, in my entire life which spans many decades. I 've had a cashier there just not even speak when I was asking her a question regarding a purchase I was making. I was talking to her and no one was there but her and me. She remained silent. I spoke to the manager immediately and he informed me that she doesn 't talk a lot. Oh, I thought, surely she spoke before she was hired and surely you 'd expect a cashier unless she had a disability to answer a customer 's question regarding a purchase, but apparently he didn 't think that. I 've had one cashier that every single time I went to her line...
I then inquired about the shopping carts and baskets, and they told me that they were available at the entrance. I pointed out that if they are directing customers to enter through the exit, they should at least bring some carts and baskets over. I was advised to go back to the entrance to retrieve one. I reiterated that I was ready to shop, but the door was locked.
Had I been able to get a basket or cart, I would have purchased more items. It felt as though there was no employee management in place. When I asked the cashier for the name of the store manager, he literally had no idea who it was. I regret spending my time here and can't imagine returning. At this rate, I wouldn't be surprise...
This is a brief update regarding COVID-19 for those who take the pandemic seriously. Winn-Dixie has returned to its regular hours. Upon entering the store, there is a box of sanitizer wipes placed on the window bench for customers to use to clean their shopping carts, which is a positive touch. Masks are required, although enforcement appears lax. I understand that they don’t want to confront anti-maskers or face any significant risks. However, I did notice that during my last visit, about half of the staff either weren’t wearing masks or were wearing them improperly, such as under their noses or around their necks, including at the checkout. Great store for shopping! They always have a wide selection of items in stock. The bakery is beautifully decorated, and the dairy section is spotless!
