My husband and I researched menus online for close by pizza and pasta restaurants, and decided to try Wood 'n Chimney. Unfortunately we didn't think to read any reviews before we went...On arrival, the waiter was too busy on his phone to notice we had arrived and didn't greet us for a few awkward moments. When he finally realised we were waiting there, he motioned for us to sit in a nearby booth and brought some menus to us, without saying a single word. A few minutes later he returned with the specials menu, again without even saying anything to us! When we were ready he took our orders, didn't offer us any drinks, then came back again and asked if we wanted drinks - I asked for a wine list...
Great location on Clarendon street - easy to walk too and on street parking options. Inside is looking a little tired and needs renovated. But we have been before and enjoyed it, so decided to have lunch. It was a Saturday and although it was very quiet the waitress seemed very stressed and was not particularly helpful when we first arrived. We could hear her arguing with the kitchen staff. However she seemed to mellow before we left and was polite to us. Food was sadly average only. Had nachos for a starter and the Tortilla chips tasted cheap. My husband ordered the butter chicken which in fact turned out to be chicken tikka. I had the carbonara which was cold although tasty. On the bright...
I went here for lunch with colleagues. We were a group of 8 and there were about 2 other tables with about 6 people in total other than us. I ordered a chicken Caesar salad; probably the fasted item to make out of all the food we ordered.Well sad to say everyone else had already eaten and finished their meals before mine came out.When it finally arrived, i sent it back. What I can say is that it looked fantastic.The reason I give this place average is that I was able to snack on some other bits and pieces from others and it tasted nice.Such a pity about the service.
Walked into this beautiful restaurant last Friday evening and it felt good. We were welcomed promptly and the staff were warm and lovely. The menu here has something from every popular cuisine in Australia. We ordered a Souvlaki, Chicken Parma and Butter Chicken for mains and Buffalo wings, Onion rings for starters. They were all very tasty and the serving proportions were fairly large. It was great value for money and we left totally content. Well done and thank you. Will be back again.. Made a lunch booking . Made the efort to to walk 45 minutes while anticipating a glass or two of vino and a yummy lunch.We got that up the road at patonys pizza.At woodn chimney what i got was a closed restaurant full of workman.Say what. Why take bookings when you must know your closed.
Came here today to check this place out since the reopening and what a massive change.Both food and service were spot on. Staff were very attentive and the Parma was amazing. Only down side is toilets are a little shabby but still clean.All in all a vast improvement.
