The Resto du Boucher just outside Vidauban is an odd place. It's decorated half in a Thai style and half in a Texan style. I think they mainly serve steaks so the Texan style is most suited. It can be recognised from the road by the large black and white plastic cow outside - which also gives a clue to what it serves. The service is ok. Most of the waitresses were efficient but a bit grumpy - maybe they are grumpy or maybe they think it's quirky to have grumpy service. If you don't take it too seriously, it's somethign to talk about aduring and afterwards! The food is a little pricey for a roadside restaurant with steaks around 30 euros. However the quality of the food surpasses any quibbles about the place or the service. It is exceptional. Steaks are great quality and extremely well cooked. In the UK, chefs have a tendency to overcook steaks - thesewere cooked exactly as requested. Highly receommended.

This restaurant serves the best steak in town.(Unfortunately the staff let it down)Good for families, couples, parties all in nice surroundings. At the moment they are offering 'plat de jour' dish of the daySteak, salad & chips 13 euros ( lunch 7/7) 2016.

Meat dishes are their forte, in any which way and form they are spot on and you get your meat cooked exactly the way you asked for it. Fresh mushroom in garlic and home cut chips are the side dishes. Service can be hit and miss, but once one understands to get the bill at he bar and engage the hostess in a bit of conversation the place does grow on one. Husband is the very good chef and the wife does the service among some others. It's not a tourist trap but good honest food , brilliantly cooked if one likes meat and for that reason I would recommend it. If busy the waiting time for your food can be a bit longer than average, but it's worth the wait.

Next to the road = not perfect for scenery, but very practical. Super nice owners, who make one feel welcome right away. Big map on the wall showing the various parts of a beef under French cut. Possibility to try various bits, with strong guidance from the owners based on individual tastes. The combination of these points make it for an easy experience, and ultimately a very good evening.

We ate here twice on a recent stay in Vidauban. Straight away we were quite taken aback by how rude the waitress greeting us was - and how miserable and unfriendly she was throughout. We would never have returned again if it weren't for the fact the food was so good - and that it was so convenient to where we were staying. So we did go back a second time - and the service was even more shocking than before! At one point a waitress even appeared to just toss a basket of bread on to our table without even looking at us. The whole feeling was that we were not welcome - surprising given that between 6 of us we spent well over £100 each time! Maybe they don't like the English tourists for some reason. But despite the awful treatment, the food we had both times was amazing. All of our meals were delicious. The rude waitresses (literally all of them are equally miserable) made me want to give a 'terrible' rating but I can't ignore the amazing food we had. If you can focus on that and not the miserable faces of the staff, it's worth visiting!

We drove past this yesterday and popped in as we were hungry and it was late, and our first evening on holiday from Manchester. The steaks we ordered came quickly, piping hot and were tender and succulent. The staff don't speak English, but it was fine as they have a diagram of the cow with all the cuts, so provided you know a little about beef you will be fine by pointing! I felt compelled to give a review as I don't feel the reviews do this place justice. Excellent meal, nice atmosphere outside with fairy lights, canopy and water features and good value! £20/head!

Love a good steak, but that is hard to find in France and certainly not in this place. My wife and myself ordered the finest and most expensive peaces of meat and both came out terrible.
