The atmosphere is great for intimate conversations on a date. The dishes we ordered had delicious flavors and were a good deal with TheFork offer (3 courses for $59). We particularly enjoyed the entrees, such as the lachs sashimi and lamm cutlet. The steak was tasty, but the portion size was a bit small. The blue eye fish filet was generous and well-prepared. However, the desserts (white chocolate mousse and chocolate tart) were too heavy and sweet, lacking freshness and originality. We were also disappointed to find that the drinks we ordered were more expensive than listed on the menu. Despite these issues, the overall value was good with the offer we received. We had the 3 course set menu but they must not have anticipated the diners that night because all starters were unavailable. They gave me a prawn dish from the a la carte menu as a substitute but it was just one prawn. That was just the beginning of the small portions. It's a really good deal for 3 course meal but you will be left hungry at the end. The dessert was the biggest portion but only because I suspect they couldn't make miniature versions of those. Had I known, I'd pay full price for full portions.
The food exceeded our expectations and we were really surprised by how well presented and perfectly cooked it was. This is 5 star quality. Location is central CBD and the hotel bar looked busy and fun but we had kids in tow (next time Staff were attentive, and we received excellent service. The only negative was that we had to wait quite long time in between our three course meal but on the night we were dining, they had staff on leave, which is completely understandable during these times. Highly recommend!
Dishes from the set menu was very elegant and nice, except the pork was a little dry, services could have been better, e.g. by asking if side dishes need to be ordered in advance so that they can be served at the same time with the main, and please supply serving cutlery with the side dishes as they are for sharing by the whole table. I was disappointed with our dining experience. Our steaks were served cold and didn't seem freshly cooked, the kartoffel appeared to have been reheated, and our dessert took longer than expected to be served. The service was good, but the food quality needs to be improved if we are to consider returning.
Our experience at Amber was absolutely fantastic. There was a small confusion with our booking, which resulted in us being assigned a set menu instead of the a la carte menu we had requested. However, the staff were very accommodating and quickly adjusted the menu for us. The food was delicious as well.
