You won't be disappointed with a visit to The Golden Oak. We encountered a brief 10-minute wait for a table since the restaurant was busy, which is always a promising sign of a good meal ahead. Our server was pleasant and attentive. I opted for the Garden omelette made with three eggs, filled with tomatoes, mushrooms, zucchini, spinach, green peppers, cheese, and onions, and it was absolutely delightful. It came with a choice of pancakes or toast, and I went with pancakes—definitely the right choice. I travel a lot and come here as much as I can when I’m not working. This place has a great selection for lunch. Well I guess that changed. The sign out front says Breakfast Lunch and so does all the websites. I was shocked to find out they don’t serve lunch anymore. They could at least changed it all instead of just the menu. It’s been like this for 4+ months is what I was told.On the other hand my waitress was great and super apologetic for not serving lunch anymore. She talked me into staying and ordering some breakfast. I got the French toast combo with strawberries.Well I hope they reconsider bringing lunch back or changing all the signage. It’s false advertisement really.
Finally decided to stop in this morning for breakfast. OMG... I'M SO GLAD I DID!! THEIR PANCAKES ARE AMAZING!!! I ordered 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, bacon, fresh fruit with coffee. Everything was delicious, plus they got my eggs exactly the way I like them! I was seated immediately even though they were packed and my waitress provided wonderful, friendly service! I will definitely be going back!
The table was sticky with syrup, and there was some black grime around the edges. It was also quite hot inside the restaurant. I ended up spending nearly $30 for two small bowls of fruit, one cup of coffee, and two slices of dry toast, and that doesn't even include the tip. I won’t be returning. - Carol

I believe this is a local diner in Swansea, IL. I was looking for breakfast before my flight home, and this place had excellent reviews. It's a straightforward spot with a simple menu that satisfies your hunger. I ordered pancakes with bacon and eggs, and it was okay.
Finally, we've found the perfect spot for Sunday breakfast! This will definitely become our go-to place for Sundays. Be prepared to wait a bit, as it seems everyone in town shares the same opinion. It's truly a great place to visit any day of the week.
Hands down....best breakfast around! You get that country feel and taste. Do not go to IHOP again until you've tried this! Very reasonable prices for portions and service was top notch and personal.
