First of all, let me say that the food was fine. Nothing spectacular but absolutely acceptable. I ordered an entree of the zucchini flowers with goat cheese and was surprised by the presentation - big, long stalks that were difficult to address with fork and knife. Strange combo of flavors but certainly tasted OK. We weren't too hungry so planned to split a main and fill in with sides and dessert but the waitress assured us that the lamb (which was the highest priced item on the menu) was far too small to share. So we ordered two of them. When the plates arrived we were dismayed - it was a huge portion, easily shared by two. We ate in silence and left quickly, feeling a bit manipulated.I know it's not popular to split a main but we would have happily paid a plate charge. And I know portion sizes are a matter of opinion but the experience left us with no desire to return. On the plus side, the decor, as reviewed by others, is darkly ornate. The soaring ceiling with the dome is indeed striking. And on the advice of other TripAdvisor reviewers, we ordered the chips ...which were the best thing we ate all night. Delicately crisp on the outside with rosemary salt and satin potato inside. Don't know how they did it but the execution was flawless. The restaurant was almost empty on a Thursday night but the bar downstairs was hopping. Glad we were a floor away from the noise. But there was a table of 10-12 women seated in the center of the restaurant who were almost as loud as the bar. Sound control isn't one of The Dome's strong points. Was I full when we paid the bill? Yes. Was I satisfied? No.
