This was my first experience eating at Mission BBQ and it was good. I visit the location in King of Prussia PA. I got the pull chicken with mac and cheese and collard greens and really enjoyed it. The food was moderately priced between 12.00 to 18.00 for main entree and 2 sides. While dining I notice that the atmosphere cater to supporting first responders and military. I then researched and found out 2 friends Bill Kraus and Steve Newton came up with their “mission”—to honor America’s military, police officers, firefighters and first responders—and then developed a menu to carry out that plan through a fast-casual concept, Mission BBQ. As one of the most consistent chains, this Mission BBQ location has perfected not just their BBQ but also their customer service. As a veteran I often receive email promotions, today 's visit was prompted by a free sandwich. I got the Moist brisket sandwich; personally I use their Georgia mustard, add Pickles and some of their signature Cold slaw to make it the perfect bite. I also picked up a slice of corn bread (some of the best I 've ever had) and enjoyed it with every last drop of fresh squeezed lemonade and sweet tea! Oh my goodness! This place is incredibly good. I am visiting the town and someone recommended this place to me. The baby back ribs are very moist and flavorful, and the meat easily falls off the bone. I ordered two sides - coleslaw (fresh, crisp, not too sweet) and mac and cheese (delicious!). Both were excellent. I also had a piece of cornbread, which was really good, but I am saving room for the peach cobbler. Update: I had to come back again before leaving town! This time I tried the pulled pork with the same sides. It was absolutely delicious.
Wow! Hands down best overall dining experience I have had in a while! This is a super “no frills joint”, so wear your big girl sweats and come ready to eat. I had the baby back ribs and baked beans, smoky sauce and the one with the heat….ohhhhh yessss! Yum. Sweat tea to wash it down. I decided to try this restaurant because it's conveniently located near my home. However, I was disappointed with the portion size of the two meat sampler I ordered. It was only enough meat for a child, maybe a small one. Priced at almost $14, I felt that it was overpriced. The cornbread that accompanied the meal was also smaller than expected and crumbly. I recommend trying a burger instead for a better experience.
I had never been to Mission Barbecue before and was unaware of their history. I work as a paramedic at the nearby Children’s Hospital and decided to visit the restaurant in uniform. I was pleasantly surprised by the great service, friendly staff, and delicious food. Everything was excellent and I am very thankful that this place exists!
