My associate and I had an absolute ball at Porteño last night. It was a wet and rainy night and I found the experience perfect for winter. Firstly, the service was impeccable..listen up Sydney! Which showed us that this was no ordinary restaurant, we would go back for that alone..BUT the food, drinks and wine...absolutely out of this world. We ordered the Queso al Horno with Pan for entree..to die for! Then Beef cheek and Mushrooms al Horno as main..melt-in-your-mouth charcoal flavoured goodness! We had Fernet as aperitif and different Malbecs, the main was chosen by our waiter and was so good we shared the giant bottle with neighbouring tables..we couldn't finish it and everyone enjoyed it. I want to say I wish all Sydney restaurants were this good. We will be back for certain, we came all the way from Canberra and it was worth the trip I have also lived in Argentina so I know the cuisine..whilst this is Argentina with a little extra, the dishes, flavours, heart, soul and service are authentic.
