8/9/23 Oh! Dear Lord! What a MAJOR disappointment Pop 's Pizza was for me. It came recommended by a friend who lives nearby and said he wouldn 't get his pizza anywhere else. As for me, I 'd as soon get one from just about anywhere ELSE! I came in today for the first, and very LAST time based upon that recommendation. It 's an order at the counter, served at the table sort of place. It 's also a cash only sort of place, with an ATM on premises. I ordered a house salad with blue cheese dressing that was fresh, but skimpy on the cucumber (1 SLICE and one grape tomato cut in half, and blue cheese dressing that really didn 't taste a whole lot like blue cheese.. While the salad was fresh, it was lacking in cucumbers (just one slice) and only a single grape tomato cut in half. The blue cheese dressing didn’t have much flavor either. Cheshire offers numerous options for enjoying a delicious pizza, and Pop's is certainly among the best. The restaurant provides both indoor and outdoor seating, along with a fantastic selection of pizzas available by the slice. We ordered a large mozzarella and meatball pizza to take home. While the crust is slightly thicker than New Haven style, it was crispy and perfectly baked. The sauce was outstanding, and the meatballs were sliced incredibly thin. They are generous with their toppings as well. We also sampled their large meatball sub, which was excellent. Overall, the prices at Pop's are very reasonable.
My wife and I stopped by before taking our dog for a walk along the Farmington Canal Trail. Once again, there were a variety of pizzas available by the slice, but unfortunately, they didn’t have the cheese pizza we were looking for. I ended up making the regrettable choice to order slices of the Old Fashioned (Sicilian) pizza, which turned out to be mostly just sauce on a thick crust. We definitely won’t be making that mistake again if we decide to come back. One thing to note: they only accept cash or check, so don’t even think about using a credit card. I ordered the sausage, mushrooms, and onions pizza, and it was quite tasty! The thin crust was perfect, and the toppings were generous. My pizza was ready just 15 minutes after I called it in. At $24 for a large pie, it was definitely worth it. Please note they only accept cash or checks.
