It was my first time, and the ordering process was confusing—the employee didn’t take my order but handed me a drink cup, which didn’t make sense since I had to use the restroom and wash my hands first. Rubio's is typically my favorite spot for lunch, and I've always enjoyed dining in without any problems. However, this is my second time ordering a chicken bowl to go, and I was disappointed to find that the chicken was burnt and blackened. I thought the first time might have just been a mistake, but this repeated issue is more than I can overlook. If it's not good enough to serve to guests dining in, it shouldn't be offered for takeout. It's frustrating to order a chicken bowl and then have to avoid the chicken.
I placed my order and waited for my food. I thought I heard my name called, so I got up, but the lady handed my order to another woman. Assuming I was mistaken, I continued to wait for a while until she asked what I was waiting for. I told her I thought she had given my order away, and then I had to wait a long time for my meal to be remade. There was no apology, and she seemed frustrated. Overall, the customer service was really disappointing.
The restaurant was quite chilly, making it uncomfortable to dine indoors. The wait times were unacceptable; it took an eternity for our order to arrive, and when it did, it was made incorrectly. I waited too long to address the issue, so I just took it home instead. On a positive note, the fish portion was generous, and the original fish taco was decent. However, the hassles we faced made the overall experience not worth it.

We recently stopped by Rubio's Coastal Grill at Anaheim Plaza and weren't sure what to choose, but every dish we sampled was amazing! We had the Coastal Trio Tacos, Langostino Lobster Bowl, and Veggie Bowl—all absolutely delicious. The dedicated Salsa Station was a great bonus that we really appreciated!
Rubio's Coastal Grill is an outstanding restaurant that never fails to impress. The food is consistently fresh and flavorful. The service is top-notch, and the ambiance is laid-back, although it can occasionally become busy and a little noisy.
I didn’t catch his name, but the young man at the counter is consistently patient and polite! That means just as much to me as the tasty food. The fish tacos are always a favorite. And be sure to pick up a cookie while you’re here!
We arrived two hours before closing and noticed that the restaurant was already cleaned up. It felt like they weren't eager to serve us, which made us concerned that the food might just be whatever leftovers they had.
