Ruth's Chris Steak House

Was disappointed with the overall experience. This place has definitely gone down hill over the years. We ordered a medium rare steak and it came out well done. We brought it to the attention of the waitress who was kind and got the manager involved. The manager put in another order for the steak and it came out medium rare. The place needs some renovation and updating. The overall taste of the food in my opinion was not worth the value. There are much better restaurants in Birmingham and this place used to be one of the best in town. My husband and I left and said we would not be back. No discount was given on the mistake made on the steak even though the waitress stated the steak would be taken off the ticket. We were not upset about having to pay for the meal as they did make the steak right the second time around. But it's not the best look for a server to say something will be comped and then the ticket is still full price.

I love Ruth Chris and have been to many locations over the years but this one is unfortunately nothing like the freestanding restaurants. I'm unsure if it's because it's located inside of a hotel and is limited. Steaks were not cooked right, lacked seasoning and no soda fountain so no refills on regular drinks. I am unsure if these are individually owned but this one was a huge failure. I have actually had a better steak at Longhorn. I was very disappointed as it was my daughter's College graduation and we came in a large group of 8. The waitress was great, the manager did what she could to help but the quality of food and details of cooking a steak right was not there at all.

I've had bad experiences with this restaurant recently, and this time was worse from a server who didn't even speak to us and I mean, literally he didn't even ask what we wanted to drink to our food, coming out cold and not being apologized to our waiter, snatching up cold food and storming often in the kitchen only for the manager to bring it back and not say a word. I got you in my experience and it was truly pathetic.

Everything was overall very nice. Filets were delicious and tender. Our sides were not as good as I've had there in the past. We had mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. The potatoes were very bland and the spinach had a very strong flavor and was quite watery. Service and atmosphere was wonderful as always.

We had an excellent Mother's Day lunch that was enjoyed by everyone. Our server, Larry, was very personable. The food arrived in a timely manner, with the understanding that a good steak takes 30-40 minutes to grill properly.
