Sate Haus is an Indonesian restaurant that specialises in sate skewers. In Indonesian, the word “satay” is actually pronounced “sate” hence it is called sate haus and of course “haus” is a play on the word house. Dustin and Philip are the owners and we were privileged to meet Dustin who hosted us and honestly one of the warmest and friendliest owners I’ve met. There is a hand painted mural that depicts their incredible journeys which I thought was beautiful and interesting. <br/ <br/ Presented:<br/ •Chicken skewers <br/ •Beef skewers <br/ •Pork belly skewers <br/ •Vegetarian skewers<br/ •Turmeric rice <br/ •Coconut rice <br/ •Gado gado salad <br/ •French fries<br/ •Glass of rose<br/ <br/ My favourites were the pork belly skewers smothered in their delicious housemade peanut sauce with turmeric rice and gado gado salad. The pork belly skewers packed more of a punch with its spice and grilled nicely which went so well with the turmeric rice. The gado gado salad was surprisingly tasty and it was mixed in with Sate Haus’ special peanut sauce. Everything was fresh and marinated in house on the day and the atmosphere was casual and laid back. Grab a beer or glass of rose and enjoy the good vibes. <br/ <br/ Thank you to @fcba x @satehaus for the invite!

They say good things in come in small packages. This small outlet serves excellent Indonesian street food. Located on Foveaux Street in Surry Hills. The service is very good. <br/ <br/ We came as a group here and got to experience a lot of the menu. Their signature item as the restaurant’s name suggests is their Sate. We sampled all 4 options which were chicken, pork, lamb, and vegetarian. All were lovely and the pork definitely had the spiciest kick to it. I enjoyed the lamb and chicken skewers the most. The Fried Chicken was mouthwatering. I also enjoyed the Fried Mushrooms a lot. Crunchy on the outside with a nice pop of mushroom in the middle. Their Haus Style Gado Gado is an Indonesian modern take of a vegetarian Caesar salad. Really fresh and tasty. The snack menu pairs well with the Asian beers they have on offer. We finished off with the Deep Fried Banana. These bite sized pieces of goodness burst with sweetness and served with a pandan coconut sauce.<br/ <br/ It’s a great place to enjoy a snack or a full meal.

I dined here on a Wednesday night as part of a foodie event (thanks to FCBA for organising). We were lucky enough to try a spread of most items on the menu including:<br/ <br/ chicken skewers with sate sauce<br/ spicy pork skewers<br/ gado gado salad<br/ turmeric rice<br/ coconut rice<br/ fries with spicy mayo<br/ <br/ Everything is made in house in their open kitchen. I thought the sate sauce was rich in flavour and worked well with all the dishes we were served. The pork skewers had a great amount of spice for my personal liking but there was extra chilli on the side for those who crave an extra spice hit. <br/ It was my first time trying a gado gado salad but i thoroughly enjoyed it. It had a good mixture of textures with the egg, green beans and thick sate sauce. <br/ <br/ Overall, I liked the selection of menu items on offer. It is a nice place for a cheap and cheerful meal before a night out on the town.

I can't wait to dinate here again, nice friendly service and with a happy hour every day you can go wrong. $2 for a Satay stick that reminds me of the satay in singapur. Delicious, flame grilled and with the most delicious crisp sauce. the owner came by to say hello and make sure everything went well, always a nice note. will surely come back!
