This was just a really fun little place to explore and make some purchases. I found many almond (and also cashew) products that I'd never seen or even contemplated before. The owner of the almond train was very friendly and let us taste some of the nuts before purchase which was great fun. This was a short stop but a very enjoyable and tasty one
Although this could be deemed to be a 'novelty', this cafe set in an old train has oodles of charm for children and adults alike. We enjoyed an afternoon tea of scones, great coffee (I don't say that lightly!) and excellent milkshakes (with over 100 flavours to choose from). A nice array of local products can be bought from another carriage.
A visit to the Almond Train is a treat. Climb on to the train and walk through the carriages for tastings of almonds and other colunary delights (e.g. home made crafts and jams) There is every type of almond imaginable from curry, garlic, choc coated and many more. You can taste any one you desire before buying.
Called in whilst passing through McLaren Vale and happened on the Almond Train. The pickles and sweet selection were first class and wasn't long before we had purchased 5-6 items. Loved the concept and the goods inside. Various sweets, almonds and cashew varieties. You can taste the different types of almonds. Reasonably priced.
The scones,jam and cream were fantastic and the staff were so friendly. The atmosphere is great and you will enjoy everything about this place
